Thank you to all the backers on Kickstarter for making this project a success. Only five more days to go but this project is already a great success. Remember Soundlazer will only be available through Kickstarter so pledge now if you want one of your own.
OK, so I read from a printout above the camera. I didn’t have a teleprompter handy and I hate being on camera. This is actually something I want to work on and hope to shoot some more videos to get over my nervousness. Gizmodo had some great ideas for using the Soundlazer that I haven’t [...]
This “Kit” is actually a fully functional Soundlazer circuit board with power supply and audio cable. This is a low cost way to get started experimenting with ultrasonic sound waves and parametric speaker technology. All the schematics, instructions and other information will be made available on this website once the project is successfully funded.
The Soundlazer has a built in programming port that interfaces with Analog Device’s Sigma Studio DSP developing environment. An easy to use graphical interface allow you to create your own custom filters, compressors and other sound shaping algorithms to improve or change the characteristics of the sound beam any way you like. The Soundlazer is [...]
The internal circuitry of the Soundlazer is very complex. A digital signal processor fine tunes the audio before sending it to the oscillator which produces an electrical signal that turns on and off forty thousand times per second. This 40KHZ signal is amplified and sent to the 39 ultrasonic emitters that produce the directional audio [...]
While I give these guys credit for an interesting application using a parametric speaker, I can’t imagine pulling a big box like this out and pointing it at someone’s head. By adding a microphone and a simple delay channel in the firmware of the DSP, it would be easy to achieve the same results with [...]
A color hasn’t been decided on for the production model but the red is looking pretty good.
